Dopo un anno di sviluppo, è stato pubblicato il rilascio dell'interprete cross-platform gratuito per avventure classiche ScummVM 2.9.0, che sostituisce i file eseguibili per i giochi e consente di eseguire molti giochi classici su piattaforme per le quali non erano originariamente destinati. Il codice del progetto è distribuito con licenza GPLv3+.
È possibile avviare oltre 340 avventure, inclusi i giochi delle aziende LucasArts, Humongous Entertainment, Revolution Software, Cyan e Sierra, come Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Myst, Blade Runner, King's Quest 1-7, Space Quest 1-6, Discworld, Simon the Sorcerer, Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress e The Legend of Kyrandia.
