Earlier this month, Google Cloud accidentally deleted the account of the Australian superannuation fund UniSuper. After restoring the functionality of UniSuper’s systems and completing an internal review, the company published information aimed at clarifying the nature of the incident. According to the report, the incident affected only and exclusively one client, specifically one of their services, Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), and only in one of the two cloud regions used by UniSuper. The client’s data backups stored in Google Cloud Storage (GCS) in the same region were not affected.
