Dopo 6 mesi di sviluppo, viene presentata la versione 2.4.0 dell'ambiente desktop LXQt (Qt Lightweight Desktop Environment), che continua a sviluppare i progetti LXDE e Razor-qt.
L'interfaccia di LXQt segue le idee della classica organizzazione del desktop, ma porta un design moderno e pratiche che aumentano la facilità d'uso. LXQt si propone come un ambiente leggero, modulare, veloce e comodo, che incorpora le migliori caratteristiche di LXDE e Razor-qt. Il codice è disponibile su GitHub e distribuito sotto le licenze GPL 2.0+ e LGPL 2.1+.
Le versioni pronte sono attese per Ubuntu (LXQt è offerto di default in Lubuntu), Arch Linux, Fedora, openSUSE, Mageia, FreeBSD, ROSA e ALT Linux.
Modifiche principali
Generale
LXQt 2.4.0 include principalmente correzioni di bug e pulizia del codice, oltre a una serie di utili miglioramenti. Alcune nuove funzionalità e modifiche sono già state aggiunte in rilasci puntuali di molti componenti da novembre.
Le versioni richieste di Qt non sono cambiate, quindi è ancora possibile compilare l'ambiente in Debian "Trixie" e nei relativi sistemi operativi.
LibFM‑Qt / PCManFM‑Qt
Nella finestra di dialogo di salvataggio, il nome base è ora automaticamente selezionato nel campo "Nome file" — questo consente di rinominare immediatamente il file.
In Wayland, a consistent visibility of desktop elements is ensured when using multi-monitor mode (now you can set separate "Hide desktop elements" settings for each monitor).
Other minor fixes and improvements have been made.
LXQt-Powermanagement
A separate monitor turn-off timeout has been added for both AC and battery operation.
Unnecessary options have been removed from the drop-down lists.
The overall layout of interface elements in the power management settings (LXQt powermanagementsettings) has been improved.
LXQt panel
The volume plugin now has a horizontal orientation and can display all available audio receivers. The default receiver volume can easily be adjusted using the mouse wheel or touchpad scrolling on the icon in the panel.
A new volume panel plugin has been added.

The overly strict check for alternative icon themes in Qt 6.11 has been fixed.
The filter in the "Stylish menu" now prioritizes lines that start titles: for example, when entering "fir," the first result will always be "Firefox."
In Wayland, the key combination selectors in the panel menu are disabled, and a hint has been added on how to configure them.
Fixed the issue with automatic hiding when dragging windows over the 'Task Manager' and 'Show Desktop'.
LXQt Sessions
Session settings for X11 and Wayland are separated. The latter is only displayed when the lxqt-wayland-session package is installed.
The main menu can now be opened in Wayland — you need to add a key combination for lxqt-qdbus openmenu in the compositor settings.
LXQt Runner
The built-in calculator now launches when entering a number at the beginning of the line, not just after the equal sign.
Notifiche
Temporary notifications (such as song titles from players and similar) are no longer retained when 'Do Not Disturb' mode is active.
xdg-desktop-portal-lxqt
Access portal (org.freedesktop.impl.portal.Access) added.
QTerminal and QTermWidget
Improved behavior of custom tab names.
You can now add a key combination for the lock button (i.e., 'keep open') in the dropdown mode.
Fixed the bug creating the bookmarks file when adding new profiles.
The 'Nord' theme has been added.
Corretta la scomparsa delle voci "Apri/Copia link" nel menu contestuale.
Corretto il modello URL — in precedenza gli URL con parentesi di chiusura causavano un errore 404.
Implementato il miglioramento della selezione di tutte le corrispondenze durante la ricerca e migliorato il codice di selezione.
Effettuati ulteriori miglioramenti e correzioni del codice.

Aggiunta l'implementazione della directory $XDG_STATE_HOME.
Corretta la gestione di NotShowIn=LXQt nei file .desktop.
Aggiunta la supporto per il logout tramite SystemdProvider.
