L'uso di PipeWire consente di offrire funzionalit\u00e0 di elaborazione audio professionale nella normale edizione desktop, eliminare la frammentazione e unificare l'infrastruttura audio per diverse applicazioni.\n<p>Nelle versioni precedenti, per l'elaborazione audio in Fedora Workstation veniva utilizzato un processo in background chiamato PulseAudio, e le applicazioni utilizzavano una libreria client per interagire con questo processo, miscelare e gestire i flussi audio. Per l'elaborazione audio professionale veniva utilizzato il server audio JACK e la relativa libreria client. Per garantire la compatibilit\u00e0, \u00e8 stata aggiunta un'interfaccia tramite PipeWire, che permette di mantenere il funzionamento di tutti i client esistenti di PulseAudio e JACK, cos\u00ec come delle applicazioni fornite in formato Flatpak. Per i vecchi client che utilizzano l'API di basso livello ALSA, \u00e8 stato installato un plugin ALSA che reindirizza i flussi audio direttamente a PipeWire.   <\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> Le build con desktop KDE sono ora impostate per utilizzare Wayland per impostazione predefinita. La sessione basata su X11 \u00e8 stata ridotta a opzione. Si segnala che la versione di KDE Plasma 5.20 fornita in Fedora 34 \u00e8 quasi paritaria in funzionalit\u00e0 rispetto alla modalit\u00e0 operativa su X11, inclusi i problemi risolti con la registrazione dello schermo e l'inserimento con il tasto centrale del mouse. Per funzionare con i driver proprietari NVIDIA, \u00e8 stato utilizzato il pacchetto kwin-wayland-nvidia. La compatibilit\u00e0 con le applicazioni X11 \u00e8 garantita mediante il componente XWayland.\n<li class=\"l\"> Migliorato il supporto per Wayland. Aggiunta la possibilit\u00e0 di utilizzare il componente XWayland nei sistemi con driver proprietari NVIDIA. Negli ambienti basati su Wayland \u00e8 stato implementato il supporto per il funzionamento in modalit\u00e0 headless, consentendo l'esecuzione dei componenti del desktop su server remoti con accesso organizzato tramite VNC o RDP.\n<li class=\"l\"> Il desktop di Fedora Workstation \u00e8 stato aggiornato alla versione GNOME 40 e alla libreria GTK 4. In GNOME 40, i desktop virtuali nella modalit\u00e0 di panoramica (Activities Overview) sono stati spostati in orientamento orizzontale e vengono visualizzati come una catena continua scorribile da sinistra a destra. Su ogni desktop visualizzato nella modalit\u00e0 di panoramica, le finestre disponibili sono mostrate in modo chiaro, con panoramizzazione e zoom dinamici in base alle interazioni dell'utente. \u00c8 garantito un passaggio senza soluzione di continuit\u00e0 tra l'elenco delle applicazioni e i desktop virtuali. \u00c8 migliorata l'organizzazione del lavoro su pi\u00f9 monitor. \u00c8 stato aggiornato l'aspetto di molte applicazioni. In GNOME Shell \u00e8 garantito l'uso della GPU per il rendering degli shader.  <center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Rilascio della distribuzione Linux Fedora 34\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/4686ba80a6de0a8680e341b7781690b1.png\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/center>\n<li class=\"l\"> Tutte le edizioni di Fedora sono passate all'utilizzo del meccanismo systemd-oomd per la risposta precoce alla mancanza di memoria nel sistema, sostituendo il processo precedentemente utilizzato earlyoom. Systemd-oomd si basa sul sottosistema del kernel PSI (Pressure Stall Information), che consente di analizzare, nell'area utente, le informazioni sui tempi di attesa per l'accesso a varie risorse (CPU, memoria, I\/O) per una valutazione precisa del carico del sistema e della natura del rallentamento. Invece, per Node.js \u00e8 fornita solo la distribuzione dei pacchetti di base con l'interprete, i file di intestazione, le librerie primarie, i moduli binari e gli strumenti principali per la gestione dei pacchetti (NPM, yarn). Nelle applicazioni fornite nei repository Fedora che utilizzano Node.js, \u00e8 consentito incorporare tutte le dipendenze disponibili in un solo pacchetto, senza scorporare e isolare le librerie utilizzate in pacchetti separati. L'incorporamento delle librerie consentir\u00e0 di liberarsi dell'accumulo di pacchetti minori, semplificher\u00e0 la manutenzione dei pacchetti (in precedenza il manutentore spendeva pi\u00f9 tempo a rivedere e testare centinaia di pacchetti con librerie piuttosto che sul pacchetto principale con il programma), liberer\u00e0 l'infrastruttura dai conflitti delle librerie e risolver\u00e0 i problemi di controllo delle versioni delle librerie (i manutentori includeranno nel pacchetto versioni collaudate e testate).\n<li class=\"l\"> Il motore dei caratteri FreeType \u00e8 stato aggiornato per utilizzare il motore di layout dei glifi (shaping) HarfBuzz. L'uso di HarfBuzz in FreeType ha migliorato la qualit\u00e0 del hinting (l'anta del contorno del glifo durante la rasterizzazione per aumentare la chiarezza sugli schermi a bassa risoluzione) nella visualizzazione del testo in lingue con un layout complesso, in cui i glifi possono essere formati da pi\u00f9 caratteri. Se prima il servizio veniva riavviato immediatamente dopo l'aggiornamento di ciascun pacchetto che lo interessava, ora si genera una coda e i servizi vengono riavviati alla fine della sessione RPM, dopo che tutti i pacchetti e le librerie sono stati aggiornati.\n<li class=\"l\"> Le immagini per le piattaforme ARMv7 (armhfp) sono passate di default all'uso di UEFI.\n<li class=\"l\"> La dimensione del dispositivo di memoria virtuale fornito dal meccanismo zRAM \u00e8 stata aumentata da un quarto a met\u00e0 della dimensione della memoria fisica, con un limite fissato a 8 GB.
