L'organizzazione OpenPOWER Foundation ha annunciato un nuovo progetto chiamato LibreBMC, volto alla creazione di un controller BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) completamente aperto per server utilizzati nei data center. LibreBMC si svilupper\u00e0 come un progetto collaborativo, a cui hanno gi\u00e0 aderito aziende come Google, IBM, Antmicro, Yadro e Raptor Computing Systems. <\/p>\n

Come firmware verr\u00e0 utilizzato il stack OpenBMC, sviluppato in origine da Facebook e trasformato in un progetto collaborativo, gestito sotto l'egida della Linux Foundation. L'applicazione di OpenBMC combinata con il progetto LibreBMC consentir\u00e0 di ottenere un prodotto completamente aperto che combina hardware aperto e firmware aperto.
