\u00c8 stata presentata la prima versione della distribuzione Floppinux, nella quale si \u00e8 cercato di creare una distribuzione minimalista che si adatti alle dimensioni di un floppy disk da 3,5 pollici, utilizzando le versioni pi\u00f9 recenti dei componenti di sistema, come il kernel Linux 5.13.0-rc2 e il set di strumenti busybox 1.33.1. <\/p>\n

La dimensione dell'immagine di avvio preparata \u00e8 di 1.44MiB, con il kernel che occupa 632KiB e i componenti dello spazio utente che rappresentano 552KiB. Rimangono 272KiB di spazio libero per le applicazioni utente (du -h). I requisiti minimi di sistema dichiarano hardware con processore i486DX e 24 MB di RAM. <\/p>\n

Lo sviluppatore ha fornito una guida per assemblare un'immagine minimalista simile per l'uso in sistemi embedded con risorse limitate come shell di avvio per applicazioni specializzate personalizzate. Per testare, si pu\u00f2 usare QEMU («qemu-system-i386 -fda floppinux.img»). <\/p>\n

Il kernel e busybox sono stati compilati utilizzando la configurazione iniziale minima possibile («make ARCH=x86 tinyconfig» e «make allnoconfig»). Nel kernel \u00e8 stata attivata la supporto per il disco RAM, TTY, printk, ELF e l'analisi dell'intestazione degli script «#!». Busybox \u00e8 stato compilato usando il linking statico e includendo utility come vi, ash, mount, umount, init, less, cat, du, echo, ls, sleep, uname, poweroff, clear, reboot. Per il boot \u00e8 stato utilizzato syslinux.
