Il Consorzio W3C ha annunciato che l'API Web Audio ha ottenuto lo status di raccomandazione. La specifica Web Audio descrive un'interfaccia di programmazione ad alto livello che consente di sviluppare applicazioni web in JavaScript per la sintesi e l'elaborazione del suono, funzionanti nel browser senza richiedere plugin aggiuntivi. Tra gli ambiti di applicazione del Web Audio si segnala l'aggiunta di effetti sonori alle pagine, lo sviluppo di un'applicazione web per l'elaborazione, registrazione, riproduzione e creazione di musica, il suo utilizzo nei giochi e la visualizzazione del suono. I browser supportano l'API Web Audio a partire da Firefox 35 e Chrome 14. <\/p>\n

L'API si basa sulla paradigima del grafo di instradamento dei flussi audio, in cui pi\u00f9 oggetti AudioNode sono collegati tra loro per formare il flusso audio finale.
