\u00c8 disponibile una nuova versione della libreria Python plotly.py 5.0, che fornisce strumenti per la visualizzazione dei dati e vari tipi di statistiche. Per il rendering viene utilizzata la libreria plotly.js, che supporta oltre 30 tipi di grafici 2D e 3D, diagrammi e mappe (il risultato \u00e8 salvato come immagine o file HTML per la visualizzazione interattiva nel browser). Il codice di plotly.py \u00e8 distribuito sotto licenza MIT.

Nel nuovo rilascio, \u00e8 stata interrotta la supporto per Python 2.7 e Python 3.5; ora \u00e8 richiesta una versione minima di Python 3.6. Sono state apportate modifiche che compromettono la compatibilit\u00e0, inclusa l'eliminazione di molte funzionalit\u00e0 obsolete, la modifica dei valori di default e l'interruzione del supporto per i browser Internet Explorer 9\/10. La libreria Plotly.js \u00e8 stata aggiornata dalla versione 1.58.4 alla 2.1. \u00c8 stata implementata una nuova estensione per l'integrazione con JupyterLab. La performance nella serializzazione dei dati in formato JSON \u00e8 aumentata da 5 a 10 volte. \u00c8 stata aggiunta la possibilit\u00e0 di riempire i grafici a barre con texture e proposto un nuovo tipo di grafico \u2014 'icicle', un equivalente rettangolare dei grafici a torta per valutare in modo visivo le differenze di dimensione delle quantit\u00e0.
