Tra le nuove funzionalit\u00e0 spicca la possibilit\u00e0 di scegliere tra temi chiari e scuri, il supporto per disattivare la modalit\u00e0 Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) durante l'installazione in parallelo con Windows e una nuova interfaccia per la partizione dei dischi. Le opzioni di installazione disponibili si limitano attualmente alla scelta tra un set normale e uno minimo di pacchetti da installare. Tra le funzioni ancora da implementare si segnala l'inclusione della crittografia delle partizioni e la scelta del fuso orario. <\/p>\n

L'installatore precedentemente proposto, Ubiquity, \u00e8 stato sviluppato nel 2006 e negli ultimi anni non ha ricevuto aggiornamenti. Nella versione server di Ubuntu, a partire dal rilascio 18.04, viene fornito l'installatore Subiquity, che utilizza anch'esso il componente curtin per implementare funzionalit\u00e0 come la partizione del disco, il caricamento dei pacchetti e l'installazione del sistema in base alla configurazione specificata.
