L'output video \u00e8 gestito tramite framebuffer, e il supporto OpenGL \u00e8 fornito da un rasterizzatore software LLVMPipe. Il prossimo passo sar\u00e0 coinvolgere il coprocessore di visualizzazione per l'output con risoluzione fino a 4K, per il quale \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stato effettuato il reverse engineering dei driver.         <\/p>\n<p>Il progetto Asahi ha ottenuto l'inclusione nel kernel Linux di supporto iniziale per i componenti SoC M1, non correlati alla GPU. Nell'ambiente Linux dimostrato, oltre alle funzionalit\u00e0 del kernel standard, sono stati utilizzati diversi patch aggiuntivi relativi a PCIe, al driver pinctrl per il bus interno e al driver del display. Questi supplementi hanno consentito di ottenere l'output video e di far funzionare USB ed Ethernet. L'accelerazione grafica non \u00e8 ancora utilizzata.    <\/p>\n<p>\u00c8 interessante notare che, per il reverse engineering del SoC M1, il progetto Asahi ha implementato un hypervisor, piuttosto che tentare di disassemblare i driver di macOS, eseguendolo a un livello intermedio tra macOS e il chip M1, intercettando e registrando in modo trasparente tutte le operazioni sul chip. Tra le peculiarit\u00e0 del SoC M1, che rendono difficile il supporto del chip nei sistemi operativi di terze parti, si segnala l'aggiunta di un coprocessore nel controller del display (DCP). A questo coprocessore \u00e8 stata delegata met\u00e0 della funzionalit\u00e0 del driver del display di macOS, che invoca le funzioni pronte del coprocessore tramite un'interfaccia RPC speciale.      <\/p>\n<p>Gli entusiasti hanno gi\u00e0 esplorato sufficienti sfide di questa interfaccia RPC per attivare il coprocessore per la visualizzazione a schermo, oltre a gestire il cursore hardware e a svolgere operazioni di compositing e scaling. Il problema \u00e8 che l'interfaccia RPC dipende dal firmware e cambia in ogni versione di macOS, quindi su Asahi Linux \u00e8 prevista l'implementazione del supporto solo per determinate versioni del firmware. In primo luogo, sar\u00e0 garantito il supporto per il firmware fornito con macOS 12 \u00abMonterey\u00bb. Non \u00e8 possibile scaricare la versione necessaria del firmware, poich\u00e9 il firmware viene installato da iBoot nella fase prima della consegna del controllo al sistema operativo e con verifica
