Tutte le operazioni specifiche con lo stack grafico di Linux sono ridotte a un'astrazione facilmente sostituibile chiamata Ozone. Finora, il supporto per Ozone era fornito come opzione, mentre per impostazione predefinita veniva utilizzato il vecchio backend, rigidamente legato a X11. I lavori per la conversione delle build da X11 all'uso del layer Ozone sono iniziati nel 2020, e per gli utenti, l'abilitazione graduale del backend Ozone\/X11 come predefinito \u00e8 cominciata con il rilascio di Chrome 92. Pochi giorni fa, il nuovo backend \u00e8 stato attivato per tutti gli utenti Linux di Chrome. Oltre a X11 e Wayland (--ozone-platform=wayland e --ozone-platform=x11), in Ozone si stanno inoltre sviluppando piattaforme per l'output attraverso i driver grafici KMS\/DRM, l'output in forma di grafica ASCII tramite la libreria libcaca, il rendering in immagini PNG (Headless) e la trasmissione tramite dispositivi Chromecast.
