In Linux From Scratch vengono fornite istruzioni su come creare da zero un sistema Linux di base, utilizzando esclusivamente il codice sorgente del software necessario. Beyond Linux From Scratch integra le istruzioni LFS con informazioni su come compilare e configurare circa 1000 pacchetti software, coprendo vari ambiti applicativi, dai database ai sistemi server, fino alle interfacce grafiche e ai lettori multimediali.    <\/p>\n<p>Il significativo cambiamento del numero di versione \u00e8 legato al passaggio all'utilizzo di una gerarchia comune per file eseguibili e librerie, che prevede la collocazione di tutti i file nella gerarchia \/usr, con l'uso di collegamenti simbolici per reindirizzare il contenuto da \/bin a \/usr\/bin, da \/sbin a \/usr\/sbin e da \/lib a \/usr\/lib. In Linux From Scratch 11 \u00e8 stato effettuato il passaggio a gcc 11.2.0, glibc 2.34 e binutils 2.37. Il kernel Linux \u00e8 stato aggiornato alla versione 5.13.12. Sono state proposte nuove versioni di 40 pacchetti, tra cui Bash 5.1.8, Grep 3.7, GRUB 2.06, Openssl-1.1.1l, Perl 5.34.0, Python 3.9.6, Systemd 249, SysVinit 2.99, Vim 8.2.3337 e Zstd-1.5.0.
