Linus Torvalds ha incluso nel repository, nel quale si sta formando il futuro ramo del kernel Linux 5.15, le patch con l'implementazione del file system NTFS dalla Paragon Software. Il rilascio del kernel 5.15 \u00e8 atteso per novembre. Il codice del nuovo driver NTFS \u00e8 stato reso pubblico dalla Paragon Software nell'agosto dello scorso anno e si differenzia dal driver attualmente presente nel kernel per la possibilit\u00e0 di operare in modalit\u00e0 scrittura. Il vecchio driver non \u00e8 stato aggiornato da molti anni ed \u00e8 in uno stato deplorevole. <\/p>\n

Il nuovo driver supporta tutte le funzionalit\u00e0 dell'attuale versione NTFS 3.1, inclusi gli attributi estesi dei file, le liste di controllo degli accessi (ACL), la modalit\u00e0 di compressione dei dati, un'efficace gestione degli spazi vuoti nei file (sparse) e la riproduzione delle modifiche dal registro per il ripristino dell'integrit\u00e0 dopo i guasti. La Paragon Software ha confermato di essere pronta a supportare il codice proposto nel kernel e prevede di trasferire in futuro l'implementazione del journaling per operare sopra il dispositivo a blocchi universale esistente nel kernel, il JBD (Journaling block device), su cui \u00e8 organizzato il journaling in ext3, ext4 e OCFS2.
