Linus Torvalds ha accettato nel repository, dove si sta formando il futuro ramo del kernel Linux 5.15, le patch per l'implementazione del file system NTFS da parte di Paragon Software. Il rilascio del kernel 5.15 \u00e8 previsto per novembre. Il codice del nuovo driver NTFS \u00e8 stato reso disponibile da Paragon Software nell'agosto dello scorso anno ed \u00e8 caratterizzato dalla possibilit\u00e0 di operare in modalit\u00e0 scrittura, a differenza del driver gi\u00e0 presente nel kernel. Il vecchio driver non \u00e8 stato aggiornato da molti anni ed \u00e8 in condizioni critiche. <\/p>\n

Il nuovo driver supporta tutte le funzionalit\u00e0 dell'attuale versione NTFS 3.1, compresi gli attributi estesi dei file, le liste di controllo degli accessi (ACL), la modalit\u00e0 di compressione dei dati, un'efficace gestione degli spazi vuoti nei file (sparse) e la riproduzione delle modifiche dal journal per il ripristino dell'integrit\u00e0 dopo i guasti. Paragon Software ha confermato di essere pronta a supportare il codice proposto nel kernel e prevede di trasferire l'implementazione del journaling per lavorare sopra il dispositivo a blocchi universale JBD (Journaling Block Device) gi\u00e0 presente nel kernel, sul quale \u00e8 basato il journaling in ext3, ext4 e OCFS2.
