L'organizzazione non profit Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) ha annunciato la decisione di decommissionare l'estensione del browser HTTPS Everywhere. L'estensione HTTPS Everywhere era disponibile per tutti i browser pi\u00f9 popolari e consentiva di utilizzare HTTPS su tutti i siti dove possibile, risolvendo il problema dei siti che, per impostazione predefinita, offrivano accesso non crittografato ma supportavano HTTPS, cos\u00ec come per le risorse che utilizzavano link da aree sicure verso pagine non crittografate. <\/p>\n

Entro la fine di quest'anno, lo sviluppo dell'estensione sar\u00e0 interrotto, ma per rendere pi\u00f9 graduale il processo di cessazione dell'uso di HTTPS Everywhere, durante il 2022 il progetto sar\u00e0 mantenuto in modalit\u00e0 di supporto, prevedendo la possibilit\u00e0 di rilasciare aggiornamenti in caso vengano rilevati problemi seri. Come motivo per la dismissione di HTTPS Everywhere, viene citata l'introduzione nei browser di opzioni di default per il reindirizzamento automatico a HTTPS quando si apre un sito su HTTP. In particolare, a partire da Firefox 76, Chrome 94, Edge 92 e Safari 15, i browser supportano la modalit\u00e0 HTTPS Only.
