\u00c8 disponibile il rilascio del gestore di finestre leggero IceWM 2.8. IceWM offre un controllo completo tramite combinazioni di tasti, con la possibilit\u00e0 di utilizzare desktop virtuali, barre delle applicazioni e menu. Il gestore di finestre viene configurato tramite un file di configurazione piuttosto semplice, con la possibilit\u00e0 di utilizzare temi. Sono disponibili applet integrate per il monitoraggio della CPU, della memoria e del traffico. Si sviluppano separatamente diverse GUI di terze parti per la personalizzazione, implementazioni del desktop e editor di menu. Il codice \u00e8 scritto in C++ e distribuito con licenza GPLv2. <\/p>\n

Nel nuovo rilascio, sono stati migliorati le prestazioni e la scalabilit\u00e0 del menu con l'elenco delle finestre. \u00c8 stato aggiunto il supporto per la raggruppamento delle finestre delle stesse applicazioni. Nella utility icesh \u00e8 stata migliorata la filtrazione per la propriet\u00e0 WM_CLASS ed \u00e8 stata aggiunta l'opzione «+group» e «+Class». \u00c8 stata aumentata l'efficienza nella gestione degli sfondi del desktop, garantendo la rimozione dell'immagine originale per ridurre il consumo di memoria.
