Dopo quasi due anni di sviluppo, \u00e8 stato rilasciato ArmorPaint 0.8, un editor 3D progettato per l'applicazione di texture e materiali su modelli tridimensionali e che supporta materiali basati su rendering fisicamente corretto (PBR). Il codice del progetto \u00e8 scritto in linguaggio Haxe e distribuito sotto licenza aperta zlib. Le versioni pronte per Windows, Linux, macOS, Android e iPadOS sono a pagamento (istruzioni per la compilazione autonoma). <\/p>\n

L'interfaccia utente \u00e8 costruita sulla base della libreria di componenti grafici Zui, che fornisce implementazioni pronte di blocchi come pulsanti, pannelli, menu, schede, interruttori, aree di input testo e suggerimenti a comparsa. La libreria \u00e8 scritta in linguaggio Haxe utilizzando il framework Kha, ottimizzato per la creazione di giochi portabili e applicazioni multimediali. Per il rendering, a seconda della piattaforma, vengono utilizzate le API grafiche OpenGL, Vulkan e Direct3D. Per il rendering dei modelli viene utilizzato il motore di rendering 3D proprietario Iron. <\/p>\n

ArmorPaint offre strumenti per la colorazione e l'applicazione di texture su modelli 3D, supporta pennelli e modelli procedurali, e fornisce un sistema a nodi (Node) per trasformare materiali e texture durante l'applicazione. \u00c8 possibile importare mesh nei formati fbx, blend, stl, gltf e glb, materiali in formato blend (Blender 3D) e texture nei formati jpg, png, tga, bmp, gif, psd, hdr, svg e tif. Una novit\u00e0 della versione 0.8 \u00e8 la creazione di una libreria di risorse cloud di ArmorPaint, la generazione di build per tablet basati su iOS e Android, l'implementazione del baking e del rendering con supporto per il ray tracing, un sistema di strati adesivi (decal layers), la possibilit\u00e0 di raggruppare strati e nodi, la rimozione dei limiti sul numero di maschere, la possibilit\u00e0 di mescolare maschere, la simulazione dell'usura dei bordi dei materiali, e il supporto per l'importazione nei formati svg e usdc. <\/p>\n

L'interfaccia \u00e8 stata significativamente rielaborata, con supporto per la localizzazione, impostazioni notevolmente modernizzate, anteprima dei nodi selezionati, nuove schede (Browser, Script, Console e Fonts), aree di lavoro (Material, Bake) e nodi (Material, Curvature Bake, Warp, Shader, Script, Picker). \u00c8 stato aggiunto il supporto per l'API grafica Vulkan, sulla base della quale \u00e8 stato realizzato un tracciatore di raggi VKRT per Linux in fase sperimentale.
