Gli sviluppatori di Raspberry Pi hanno annunciato la certificazione del driver grafico v3dv da parte dell'organizzazione Khronos, che ha superato con successo oltre 100.000 test del set CTS (Kronos Conformance Test Suite) ed \u00e8 stato riconosciuto completamente compatibile con la specifica Vulkan 1.1. <\/p>\n

Il driver \u00e8 stato certificato utilizzando il chip Broadcom BCM2711, impiegato nelle schede Raspberry Pi 4, Raspberry Pi 400 e Compute Module 4. Il test \u00e8 stato eseguito sulla scheda Raspberry Pi 4 con la distribuzione Raspberry Pi OS basata sul kernel Linux 5.10.63, Mesa 21.3.0 e X-server. L'ottenimento della certificazione consente di dichiarare ufficialmente la compatibilit\u00e0 con gli standard grafici e di utilizzare i marchi commerciali associati di Khronos. <\/p>\n

Oltre a Vulkan 1.1, il driver v3dv ha implementato anche il supporto per i geometry shaders e le estensioni Vulkan non coperte dalla specifica. \u00c8 stato migliorato il supporto per il debugger 3D RenderDoc e il tracciatore GFXReconstruct. Inoltre, le prestazioni del codice generato dal compilatore di shader sono state notevolmente migliorate nei driver OpenGL e Vulkan, il che ha avuto un impatto positivo sulla velocit\u00e0 delle applicazioni che utilizzano attivamente gli shader, come i giochi basati sul motore Unreal Engine 4. Tutte le modifiche registrate nel driver v3dv sono gi\u00e0 state incluse nel progetto Mesa principale e saranno presto disponibili nella distribuzione Raspberry Pi OS. Il driver v3dv \u00e8 limitato al supporto dell'unit\u00e0 di elaborazione grafica VideoCore VI, utilizzata a partire dal modello Raspberry Pi 4. Per le schede pi\u00f9 vecchie, \u00e8 in fase di sviluppo un driver separato, RPi-VK-Driver, che implementa solo un sottoinsieme dell'API Vulkan, poich\u00e9 le capacit\u00e0 della GPU VideoCore fornite nelle schede precedenti al Raspberry Pi 4 non sono sufficienti per un'implementazione completa dell'API Vulkan.
