Dopo oltre un anno di sviluppo, \u00e8 stato rilasciato il distribution aggiornato per telefoni cellulari NemoMobile versione 0.7, che utilizza i risultati del progetto Mer, ma \u00e8 basato sul progetto ManjaroArm. La dimensione dell'immagine di sistema per Pine Phone \u00e8 di 740 MB. Tutte le applicazioni e i servizi sono rilasciati sotto licenze GPL e BSD e sono disponibili su GitHub. <\/p>\n

NemoMobile era inizialmente previsto come un'alternativa open source al progetto Harmattan di Nokia e sviluppato in collaborazione con la comunit\u00e0 e l'azienda Jolla. Tuttavia, col passare del tempo, Jolla si \u00e8 concentrata su SailfishOS, parzialmente chiuso, non prestando sufficiente attenzione alla componente open source del progetto Mer \u2014 NemoMobile. L'ultimo rilascio di NemoMobile \u00e8 avvenuto nell'aprile del 2013. <\/p>\n

Nel 2019, un gruppo di appassionati ha iniziato a trasferire i componenti di NemoMobile dalla base Mer alla base Manjaro. Sono emersi anche progetti per portare NemoMobile su altri sistemi operativi come Fedora e OpenEmbedded. La principale ragione del passaggio dalla base Mer sono stati i componenti obsoleti. In particolare, Mer utilizza ancora Qt versione 5.6 a causa delle restrizioni di licenza. <\/p>\n

Attualmente \u00e8 stato completato il passaggio dei componenti NemoMobile a Qt 5.15 e ad altre versioni moderne dei pacchetti. Sono state aggiunte le applicazioni mancanti, come contatti, posta, browser, impostazioni, meteo, gestore pacchetti, agente polkit e plugin di autenticazione. <\/p>\n

Tra i problemi principali rimangono irrisolti l'invio di SMS (la ricezione funziona) e le chiamate vocali. Attualmente sono disponibili immagini per PinePhone e PineTab, e sono in fase di sviluppo immagini per Google Pixel 3a e Volla Phone.
