Si tratta del terzo rilascio del progetto GNU e continua ad essere presentato come una versione di test, poich\u00e9 richiede ulteriore stabilizzazione e test. Libreboot sviluppa un ramo completamente libero del progetto CoreBoot, fornendo una sostituzione priva di binari per i firmware proprietari UEFI e BIOS, responsabili dell'inizializzazione di CPU, memoria, periferiche e altri componenti hardware.    <\/p>\n<p>Libreboot mira a creare un ambiente di sistema che consenta di funzionare completamente senza software proprietario, non solo a livello di sistema operativo, ma anche nei firmware che assicurano l'avvio. Libreboot non si limita a ripulire CoreBoot dai componenti non liberi, ma lo arricchisce con strumenti per semplificare l'uso da parte degli utenti finali, creando una distribuzione che pu\u00f2 essere utilizzata da chiunque, anche da chi non ha abilit\u00e0 speciali.       <\/p>\n<p>Tra l'hardware supportato da Libreboot:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Sistemi desktop Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L, Intel D510MO, Intel D410PT, Intel D945GCLF e Apple iMac 5,2.\n<li class=\"l\"> Server e workstation: ASUS KCMA-D8, ASUS KGPE-D16, ASUS KFSN4-DRE.\n<li class=\"l\"> Laptop: ThinkPad X60 \/ X60S \/ X60 Tablet, ThinkPad T60, Lenovo ThinkPad X200 \/ X200S \/ X200 Tablet, Lenovo ThinkPad R400, Lenovo ThinkPad T400 \/ T400S, Lenovo ThinkPad T500, Lenovo ThinkPad W500, Lenovo ThinkPad R500, Apple MacBook1,1 e MacBook2,1.  <\/ul>\n<p>Nella nuova versione:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Sono stati trasferiti cambiamenti da CoreBoot 4.14 e nuove versioni di SeaBIOS e GRUB.\n<li class=\"l\"> Il supporto per Tianocore (implementazione open source di UEFI) \u00e8 stato escluso dal sistema di build a causa di problemi di mantenimento e della presenza di problemi irrisolti. In alternativa, in Libreboot sar\u00e0 incluso un ambiente payload basato su u-root, sul kernel Linux e su Busybox.\n<li class=\"l\"> Risolti i problemi con l'uso di SeaBIOS (implementazione open source di BIOS) sulle schede madri ASUS KGPE-D16 e KCMA-D8.\n<li class=\"l\"> Aumentato il numero di schede per le quali sono state create build da 16 megabyte (con busybox e linux).
