Nella base del pacchetto Debian testing, sulla quale sar\u00e0 basato il rilascio di Debian 12 'Bookworm', \u00e8 stato aggiunto il pacchetto fnt con l'implementazione di un gestore di font che risolve il compito di installare font aggiuntivi e mantenere quelli gi\u00e0 esistenti aggiornati. Oltre a Linux, il programma pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato anche su FreeBSD (\u00e8 stato recentemente aggiunto un port) e macOS. Il codice \u00e8 scritto in Shell ed \u00e8 distribuito sotto licenza MIT. <\/p>\n

L'utilit\u00e0 fnt si posiziona come analogo di apt per i caratteri e supporta un insieme simile di comandi per l'installazione, l'aggiornamento e la ricerca. \u00c8 inoltre disponibile un comando per un'anteprima visiva dei caratteri in console tramite ascii-art. Per una visualizzazione di qualit\u00e0 superiore dei caratteri proposti, \u00e8 stato preparato un servizio web. L'utilit\u00e0 consente di installare caratteri pi\u00f9 recenti, presenti nel repository Debian Sid, oltre a caratteri esterni dalla collezione Google Web Fonts. In totale, sono offerti circa 2000 caratteri per l'installazione (480 da Debian Sid e 1420 da Google Web Fonts).
