Dopo tre anni dalla creazione della precedente importante versione, \u00e8 stato presentato il pacchetto mdadm 4.2.0, che include un insieme di strumenti per la gestione dei RAID software in Linux. Tra le novit\u00e0 della nuova versione si segnala la possibilit\u00e0 di compilazione con GCC 9 e l'espansione del supporto per i RAID IMSM (Intel Matrix Storage Manager), cos\u00ec come la funzionalit\u00e0 Partial Parity Log (PPL), che consente di conservare dati ridondanti aggiuntivi per ridurre la probabilit\u00e0 di corruzione delle informazioni (Write Hole) in caso di desincronizzazione dei contenuti dei dischi. Nella nuova versione \u00e8 anche migliorato il supporto per i RAID1\/10 cluster (Cluster MD), che consentono di implementare un RAID software per tutti i nodi del cluster.
