Il progetto UBports, che ha preso in carico lo sviluppo della piattaforma mobile Ubuntu Touch dopo che la Canonical si \u00e8 ritirata, ha pubblicato un aggiornamento del firmware OTA-21 (over-the-air). Il progetto sta anche sviluppando un port sperimentale del desktop Unity 8, rinominato in Lomiri. <\/p>\n

L'aggiornamento Ubuntu Touch OTA-21 \u00e8 stato creato per gli smartphone BQ E4.5\/E5\/M10\/U Plus, Cosmo Communicator, F(x)tec Pro1, Fairphone 2\/3, Google Pixel 2XL\/3a, Huawei Nexus 6P, LG Nexus 4\/5, Meizu MX4\/Pro 5, Nexus 7 2013, OnePlus 2\/3\/5\/6\/One, Samsung Galaxy Note 4\/S3 Neo+, Sony Xperia X\/XZ\/Z4, Vollaphone, Xiaomi Mi A2\/A3, Xiaomi Poco F1, Xiaomi Redmi 3s\/3x\/3sp\/4X\/7, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7\/7 Pro. Separatamente, senza l'etichetta \u2018OTA-21\u2019, saranno preparati aggiornamenti per i dispositivi Pine64 PinePhone e PineTab. <\/p>\n

Ubuntu Touch OTA-21 \u00e8 ancora basato su Ubuntu 16.04, ma negli ultimi tempi gli sforzi degli sviluppatori si sono concentrati sulla preparazione per il passaggio a Ubuntu 20.04. Tra le modifiche in OTA-21 \u00e8 stata segnalata la revisione dello schermo con informazioni sul riempimento dei dispositivi di archiviazione, ampliato il numero di categorie e migliorata la precisione delle informazioni riguardo allo spazio libero nelle partizioni di sistema. \u00c8 stata modificata l'interfaccia mostrata prima dello sblocco dello schermo, che prevede diversi stili scelti in base all'uso di un PIN o di una password per lo sblocco. <\/p>\n

\u00c8 stata effettuata la preparazione per l'utilizzo su dispositivi della strati Halium 10, che fornisce uno strato a basso livello per semplificare il supporto hardware. Per i dispositivi supportati in Halium 9, sono stati inclusi plugin per utilizzare i sensori del magnetometro e della bussola. Il servizio Media-Hub, responsabile della riproduzione audio e video da parte delle applicazioni, \u00e8 stato riscritto, insieme alla libreria client ad esso collegata, che \u00e8 stata trasferita all'uso delle classi Qt per ridurre il numero di dipendenze e semplificare la manutenzione del codice. La revisione ha anche consentito di ridurre le dimensioni occupate dal plugin qtubuntu-media (fornisce API QtMultimedia) su disco, eliminando strati superflui e riducendo il consumo di memoria.
