Ingo Molnar ha presentato la seconda versione di un insieme di patch che permette di ridurre significativamente il tempo di ricompilazione del kernel, grazie alla ristrutturazione della gerarchia dei file di intestazione e alla riduzione delle dipendenze incrociate. Rispetto alla prima versione proposta qualche giorno fa, la nuova versione si distingue per l'adattamento al kernel 5.16-rc8, l'aggiunta di ulteriori ottimizzazioni e l'implementazione del supporto per la compilazione con il compilatore Clang. Utilizzando Clang, l'applicazione delle patch ha consentito di ridurre il tempo di compilazione dell'88% o del 77% nei consumi delle risorse CPU. Con una ricompilazione completa del kernel tramite il comando 'make -j96 vmlinux', il tempo di compilazione \u00e8 sceso da 337.788 a 179.773 secondi. <\/p>\n

Nella nuova versione \u00e8 stato risolto il problema con i plugin GCC, corretti gli errori emersi durante la revisione iniziale e unificati i duplicati della dichiarazione della struttura «task_struct_per_task». Inoltre, \u00e8 continuata l'ottimizzazione del file di intestazione linux\/sched.h e implementata l'ottimizzazione dei file di intestazione del sottosistema RDMA (infiniband), che ha permesso di ridurre ulteriormente il tempo di compilazione del 9% rispetto alla prima versione delle patch.
