Jiri Konecny di Red Hat ha annunciato il lavoro di modernizzazione e miglioramento dell'interfaccia utente dell'installatore Anaconda, utilizzato in Fedora, RHEL, CentOS e in alcune altre distribuzioni Linux. \u00c8 interessante notare che, invece della libreria GTK, la nuova interfaccia sar\u00e0 costruita su tecnologie web e consentir\u00e0 la gestione remota tramite un web browser. Si segnala che la decisione di rivedere l'installatore \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stata presa, ma l'implementazione \u00e8 ancora in fase di prototipo lavorativo, non pronta per la demo. <\/p>\n

Come base per la creazione della nuova interfaccia sono stati utilizzati i componenti del progetto Cockpit, utilizzato nei prodotti Red Hat per la configurazione e gestione dei server<\/a>. Cockpit \u00e8 stato scelto come soluzione collaudata con supporto backend per interagire con l'installatore (Anaconda DBus). Inoltre, l'uso di Cockpit consentir\u00e0 di ottenere uniformit\u00e0 e unificazione dei vari componenti di gestione del sistema. L'adozione di un'interfaccia web migliorer\u00e0 notevolmente la comodit\u00e0 della gestione remota dell'installazione, che non pu\u00f2 essere paragonata all'attuale soluzione basata su protocollo VNC. <\/p>\n

La rivisitazione dell'interfaccia si baser\u00e0 sul lavoro gi\u00e0 svolto per aumentare la modularit\u00e0 dell'installatore e non avr\u00e0 un impatto significativo sugli utenti di Fedora, poich\u00e9 gran parte di Anaconda \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stata trasformata in moduli che interagiscono tramite l'API DBus, e la nuova interfaccia utilizzer\u00e0 l'API esistente senza una rielaborazione interna. Le tempistiche per l'inizio dei test pubblici della nuova interfaccia e la sua prontezza per la promozione in upstream non sono definite in questa fase di sviluppo, ma gli sviluppatori promettono di pubblicare periodicamente rapporti sui progressi del progetto.
