Jiri Konecny di Red Hat ha annunciato i lavori di modernizzazione e miglioramento dell'interfaccia utente dell'installer Anaconda, utilizzato in Fedora, RHEL, CentOS e alcune altre distribuzioni Linux. \u00c8 interessante notare che, invece della libreria GTK, la nuova interfaccia sar\u00e0 costruita su tecnologie web e consentir\u00e0 il controllo remoto tramite browser. Si segnala che la decisione di riprogettare l'installer \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stata presa, ma la realizzazione \u00e8 ancora in fase di prototipo e non \u00e8 pronta per la demo. <\/p>\n

Come base per la creazione della nuova interfaccia sono stati utilizzati componenti del progetto Cockpit, impiegato nei prodotti Red Hat per la configurazione e la gestione dei server<\/a>. Cockpit \u00e8 stato scelto come soluzione ben collaudata con supporto backend per l'interazione con l'installer (Anaconda DBus). Inoltre, l'uso di Cockpit consentir\u00e0 di ottenere coerenza e standardizzare diversi componenti di gestione del sistema. L'adozione di un'interfaccia web aumenter\u00e0 notevolmente la facilit\u00e0 di gestione remota dell'installazione, che non \u00e8 paragonabile all'attuale soluzione basata su VNC. <\/p>\n

La revisione dell'interfaccia sar\u00e0 basata sul lavoro gi\u00e0 svolto per aumentare la modularit\u00e0 dell'installer e non influenzer\u00e0 significativamente gli utenti di Fedora, poich\u00e9 gran parte di Anaconda \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stata trasformata in moduli che interagiscono tramite API DBus. La nuova interfaccia utilizzer\u00e0 l'API esistente senza una revisione interna. Le tempistiche per l'inizio della beta pubblica della nuova interfaccia e la sua prontezza per il passaggio a upstream non vengono ancora annunciate, ma gli sviluppatori promettono di pubblicare report sullo sviluppo del progetto a cadenza regolare.
