Sono emersi ulteriori dettagli sul progetto SUSE Liberty Linux, annunciato questa mattina da SUSE senza dettagli tecnici. Si \u00e8 scoperto che nell'ambito del progetto \u00e8 stata preparata una nuova edizione della distribuzione Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5, costruita utilizzando la piattaforma Open Build Service e adatta all'uso al posto del classico CentOS 8, il cui supporto \u00e8 stato interrotto alla fine del 2021. Si prevede che gli utenti di CentOS 8 e RHEL 8 possano migrare i propri sistemi sulla distribuzione SUSE Liberty Linux, che offre piena compatibilit\u00e0 binaria con RHEL e i pacchetti del repository EPEL. <\/p>\n

La nuova distribuzione \u00e8 interessante perch\u00e9 il contenuto dello spazio utente in SUSE Liberty Linux \u00e8 stato creato tramite la ricostruzione dei pacchetti sorgente SRPM da RHEL 8.5, ma il pacchetto del kernel \u00e8 stato sostituito con una propria versione, basata sul ramo del kernel Linux 5.3 e creata tramite la ricostruzione del pacchetto del kernel dalla distribuzione SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP3. La distribuzione \u00e8 creata solo per l'architettura x86-64. Le versioni pronte di SUSE Liberty Linux non sono ancora disponibili per il testing. <\/p>\n

In sintesi, il prodotto SUSE Liberty Linux rappresenta una nuova distribuzione basata sulla ricostruzione dei pacchetti RHEL e del kernel di SUSE Linux Enterprise, per la quale \u00e8 fornito il supporto tecnico SUSE e che pu\u00f2 essere gestita centralmente tramite la piattaforma SUSE Manager. Gli aggiornamenti per SUSE Liberty Linux saranno rilasciati seguendo gli aggiornamenti di RHEL.
