Oltre ad AlmaLinux, come alternative al classico CentOS 8 si propongono anche VzLinux (preparato da Virtuozzo), Rocky Linux (sviluppato dalla comunit\u00e0 sotto la guida del fondatore di CentOS con il supporto della societ\u00e0 appositamente creata Ctrl IQ), Oracle Linux e SUSE Liberty Linux. Inoltre, Red Hat ha offerto la possibilit\u00e0 di utilizzare gratuitamente RHEL nelle organizzazioni che sviluppano software open source e in ambienti di sviluppatori individuali con un massimo di 16 sistemi virtuali o fisici.
