Il set di test Acid3 \u00e8 stato creato nel 2008 da Ian Hickson, l'ideatore della specifica HTML5 e coautore delle specifiche CSS. Acid3 comprende 100 test, formulati sotto forma di funzioni che restituiscono un risultato positivo o negativo. I test coprono vari ambiti, come ECMAScript, HTML 4.01, DOM Level 2, HTTP\/1.1, SVG, XML, ecc.
