L'azienda Oracle ha presentato una versione preliminare della distribuzione Oracle Linux 9, basata sulla base pacchetti di Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 e completamente binariamente compatibile con essa. \u00c8 disponibile un'immagine ISO di installazione di 8 GB per il download senza restrizioni, preparata per le architetture x86_64 e ARM64 (aarch64). Per Oracle Linux 9 \u00e8 aperto un accesso illimitato e gratuito al repository yum con aggiornamenti binari dei pacchetti contenenti correzioni di bug (errata) e problemi di sicurezza. Sono stati preparati anche repository supportati separatamente con set di pacchetti Application Stream e CodeReady Builder per il download. <\/p>\n

Oltre al pacchetto del kernel fornito con RHEL (basato sul kernel 5.14), Oracle Linux offre un proprio kernel Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 7, basato sul kernel Linux 5.15 e ottimizzato per funzionare con software e hardware industriale Oracle. I codici sorgenti del kernel, inclusa la suddivisione in patch separate, sono disponibili in un repository Git pubblico di Oracle. Il kernel Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel si installa di default, si posiziona come alternativa al pacchetto del kernel RHEL e fornisce una serie di funzionalit\u00e0 avanzate, come l'integrazione di DTrace e un miglior supporto per Btrfs. Oltre al kernel aggiuntivo in termini di funzionalit\u00e0, le versioni di Oracle Linux 9 e RHEL 9 sono completamente identiche.
