Oracle ha presentato la versione preliminare della distribuzione Oracle Linux 9, sviluppata sulla base della libreria di pacchetti di Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 e completamente compatibile in binario con essa. \u00c8 disponibile per il download senza limitazioni un'immagine ISO di installazione, di dimensioni 8 GB, preparata per le architetture x86_64 e ARM64 (aarch64). Oracle Linux 9 offre accesso illimitato e gratuito al repository yum con aggiornamenti binari dei pacchetti che includono correzioni di errori (errata) e problemi di sicurezza. Sono stati inoltre preparati repository di supporto separati con insiemi di pacchetti Application Stream e CodeReady Builder. <\/p>\n

Oltre al pacchetto con il kernel della composizione RHEL (basato sul kernel 5.14), Oracle Linux offre un proprio kernel Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 7, basato sul kernel Linux 5.15 e ottimizzato per funzionare con il software e l'hardware industriale di Oracle. I sorgenti del kernel, inclusa la suddivisione in patch singole, sono disponibili in un repository Git pubblico di Oracle. Il kernel Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel \u00e8 installato per impostazione predefinita, posizionato come alternativa al pacchetto del kernel RHEL e offre una serie di funzionalit\u00e0 avanzate, come l'integrazione di DTrace e un miglior supporto per Btrfs.
