Le applicazioni aggiuntive sono distribuite sotto forma di moduli. Per la gestione dei pacchetti si utilizza un gestore di pacchetti proprietario, PPM (Porteus Package Manager), che considera le dipendenze e consente di installare programmi dai repository Porteus, Slackware e Slackbuilds.org. L'interfaccia \u00e8 progettata tenendo conto dell'uso su dispositivi con risoluzioni dello schermo ridotte. La configurazione avviene tramite il configuratore proprietario Porteus Settings Centre.
