L'ultima versione di Slax basata su Slackware \u00e8 stata creata 9 anni fa. Nel 2018, il distro \u00e8 passato alla base pacchetti Debian, con il gestore pacchetti APT e il sistema di init systemd. L'ambiente grafico \u00e8 costruito sulla base del window manager FluxBox e dell'interfaccia desktop\/di avvio delle applicazioni xLunch, appositamente sviluppata per Slax dai membri del progetto.
