Nell'implementazione dell'interfaccia di input\/output asincrono io_uring, inclusa nel kernel Linux a partire dalla versione 5.1, \u00e8 stata scoperta una vulnerabilit\u00e0 (CVE-2022-29582) che consente a un utente non privilegiato di ottenere diritti di root nel sistema, anche durante l'esecuzione di un exploit da un contenitore. La vulnerabilit\u00e0 \u00e8 causata dall'accesso a un blocco di memoria gi\u00e0 liberato e si manifesta nei kernel Linux a partire dalla versione 5.10, ed \u00e8 stata corretta ad aprile con gli aggiornamenti 5.10.111, 5.15.34 e 5.17.3. <\/p>\n
L'accesso alla memoria liberata si verifica a causa di una condizione di competizione durante la gestione dei timeout nella funzione io_flush_timeouts(), che rimuove l'entry del timeout dalla lista e lo annulla, senza verificare la creazione e la cancellazione del timeout in quel momento. <\/p>\n
I ricercatori hanno preparato un exploit funzionante che non richiede l'abilitazione dei namespace degli identificatori utente (user namespaces) e che \u00e8 in grado di fornire accesso root al sistema principale quando l'exploit viene eseguito da un utente non privilegiato in un contenitore isolato.
