L'azienda Cloudflare ha pubblicato i testi sorgente della propria versione del server proxy PgBouncer, utilizzato per gestire il pool di connessioni aperte al database PostgreSQL. PgBouncer consente di gestire l'accesso delle applicazioni a PostgreSQL tramite connessioni gi\u00e0 stabilite, evitando l'esecuzione continua di operazioni ripetitive e costose di apertura e chiusura delle connessioni, riducendo cos\u00ec il numero di connessioni attive a PostgreSQL. <\/p>\n

Le modifiche proposte nel fork mirano a un'isolamento pi\u00f9 rigoroso delle risorse a livello di singoli database (carico sulla CPU, consumo di memoria e intensit\u00e0 di I\/O) e a garantire limiti al numero di connessioni legate a ciascun utente e al pool di connessioni. Ad esempio, nel fork pubblicato \u00e8 stata implementata la possibilit\u00e0 di limitare la dimensione del pool di connessioni per ogni utente, funzionante correttamente in configurazioni con autenticazione basata su nome host (HBA, host-based authentication). Inoltre, \u00e8 stata aggiunta la possibilit\u00e0 di modificare dinamicamente i limiti sul numero di connessioni per ciascun utente, permettendo di ridurre pi\u00f9 flessibilmente gli utenti che inviano molte richieste ad alta intensit\u00e0 di risorse.
