L'azienda Collabora ha pubblicato un'implementazione di un sistema di apprendimento automatico per aumentare l'efficienza nella compressione delle videoconferenze, che consente di ridurre la larghezza di banda necessaria di 10 volte durante la trasmissione di video con facce dei partecipanti, mantenendo una qualit\u00e0 paragonabile a quella di H.264. L'implementazione \u00e8 scritta in Python utilizzando il framework PyTorch ed \u00e8 rilasciata sotto la licenza GPLv3. <\/p>\n

Il metodo permette di ricostruire i dettagli del viso persi durante la trasmissione con un alto livello di compressione. Il modello di apprendimento automatico genera un'animazione della testa parlante basata su un'immagine del viso trasmessa in alta qualit\u00e0 e sul video ricevuto, monitorando i cambiamenti dell'espressione facciale e della posizione della testa nel video. Dalla parte del mittente, il video viene inviato con un bitrate molto basso, mentre dalla parte del destinatario viene elaborato dal sistema di apprendimento automatico. Per migliorare ulteriormente la qualit\u00e0, il video generato pu\u00f2 essere trattato tramite un modello di Super-Risoluzione.
