Fedora Linux developers have disabled the use of VA-API (Video Acceleration API) for hardware-accelerated encoding and decoding of video in H.264, H.265, and VC-1 formats in the Mesa package delivered with the distribution. This change will be included in Fedora 37 and will affect configurations using open graphics drivers (AMDGPU, radeonsi, Nouveau, Intel, etc.).
