Le vulnerabilit\u00e0 sono causate da errori in singole implementazioni del protocollo Matrix e non rappresentano problemi del protocollo stesso. Attualmente, il progetto ha rilasciato aggiornamenti per gli SDK problematici e per alcune delle applicazioni client basate su di essi.    <\/p>\n<p>Per effettuare con successo un attacco \u00e8 necessaria l'interazione con un server domestico controllato dagli aggressori <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/server\/dts-shicago\/\"   title=\"server\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2922\">server<\/a> (homeserver \u2014 server per la memorizzazione della cronologia e dei dati degli utenti). L'utilizzo della crittografia end-to-end sul lato client impedisce all'amministratore <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/server\/dts-los-angeles\/\"   title=\"server\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3857\">server<\/a> di interferire nelle comunicazioni, ma le vulnerabilit\u00e0 scoperte offrono la possibilit\u00e0 di bypassare questa protezione. I problemi riguardano il client Matrix principale Element (ex Riot) per Web, sistemi desktop, iOS e Android, nonch\u00e9 applicazioni client di terze parti, tra cui Cinny, Beeper, SchildiChat, Circuli e Synod.im. Le vulnerabilit\u00e0 non si manifestano nelle librerie matrix-rust-sdk, hydrogen-sdk, Matrix Dart SDK, mautrix-python, mautrix-go e matrix-nio, cos\u00ec come nelle applicazioni Hydrogen, ElementX, Nheko, FluffyChat, Syphon, Timmy, Gomuks e Pantalaimon.      <\/p>\n<p>Sono identificati tre scenari principali di attacco:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> L'amministratore del server Matrix pu\u00f2 compromettere il funzionamento della verifica basata su emoji (SAS, Short Authentication Strings) durante l'uso di firme incrociate e spacciarsi per un altro utente. Il problema \u00e8 causato da una vulnerabilit\u00e0 (CVE-2022-39250) nel codice matrix-js-sdk, legata alla miscelazione della gestione degli identificatori dei dispositivi e delle chiavi di firma incrociata.\n<li class=\"l\"> Un aggressore che controlla il server pu\u00f2 falsificare un mittente fidato e fornire una chiave falsa per intercettare i messaggi da altri utenti. Il problema \u00e8 causato da vulnerabilit\u00e0 in matrix-js-sdk (CVE-2022-39251), matrix-ios-sdk (CVE-2022-39255) e matrix-android-sdk2 (CVE-2022-39248), che portano il client ad accettare erroneamente messaggi indirizzati ai dispositivi, crittografati utilizzando il protocollo Megolm invece di Olm, attribuendo i messaggi al mittente Megolm, anzich\u00e9 al mittente reale.\n<li class=\"l\"> Utilizzando le vulnerabilit\u00e0 menzionate nel punto precedente, l'amministratore del server pu\u00f2 anche aggiungere una chiave di backup fasulla all'account utente per estrarre le chiavi utilizzate per crittografare i messaggi.    <\/ul>\n<p>I ricercatori che hanno scoperto la vulnerabilit\u00e0 hanno anche dimostrato attacchi che portano all'aggiunta di un utente estraneo alla chat o al collegamento di un dispositivo non autorizzato a un utente. Gli attacchi si basano sul fatto che i messaggi di servizio utilizzati per aggiungere utenti alla chat non sono legati alle chiavi del creatore della chat e possono essere generati dall'amministratore del server. Gli sviluppatori del progetto Matrix hanno classificato queste vulnerabilit\u00e0 come minori, poich\u00e9 tali manovre non passeranno inosservate \u2014 in caso di sostituzione di un utente, questi apparir\u00e0 nell'elenco degli utenti della chat, e quando verr\u00e0 aggiunto un dispositivo, verr\u00e0 visualizzato un avviso e il dispositivo sar\u00e0 contrassegnato come non verificato (al
