Canonical ha reso disponibile un abbonamento gratuito al servizio commerciale Ubuntu Pro (ex Ubuntu Advantage), che offre accesso a aggiornamenti avanzati per le versioni LTS di Ubuntu. Il servizio consente di ricevere aggiornamenti con patch per vulnerabilit\u00e0 per un periodo di 10 anni (il ciclo di assistenza standard per le versioni LTS \u00e8 di 5 anni) e fornisce accesso a live patch, che consentono di applicare aggiornamenti al kernel Linux senza riavviare. <\/p>\n

L'abbonamento gratuito a Ubuntu Pro \u00e8 disponibile per privati e piccole imprese con un massimo di 5 host fisici nella loro infrastruttura (il programma copre anche tutte le macchine virtuali ospitate su questi host). Per ottenere i token di accesso al servizio Ubuntu Pro \u00e8 necessaria un'account Ubuntu One, disponibile per chiunque. Per iscriversi agli aggiornamenti avanzati, \u00e8 possibile utilizzare il comando «pro attach» oppure l'applicazione grafica «Software & Updates» (scheda Livepatch). <\/p>\n

\u00c8 stato annunciato che sono in preparazione aggiornamenti avanzati per nuove categorie di applicazioni per workstation e data center. Ad esempio, il rilascio degli aggiornamenti avanzati ora includer\u00e0 pacchetti come Ansible, Apache Tomcat, Apache Zookeeper, Docker, Drupal, Nagios, Node.js, phpMyAdmin, Puppet, PowerDNS, Python 2, Redis, Rust e WordPress.
