Per il sistema operativo aperto Haiku, che continua a sviluppare le idee di BeOS, \u00e8 stata preparata un'interfaccia per garantire la compatibilit\u00e0 con Wayland, consentendo di eseguire toolkit e applicazioni che utilizzano questo protocollo, comprese le applicazioni basate sulla libreria GTK. L'interfaccia \u00e8 stata sviluppata da Ilya Chugin, che si occupa anche del porting di Haiku per l'architettura RISC-V e dell'adattamento di Wine per Haiku. <\/p>\n

L'interfaccia fornisce la libreria libwayland-client.so, basata sul codice di libwayland e compatibile a livello di API e ABI, che consente di eseguire applicazioni Wayland senza modifiche. In precedenza, un altro sviluppatore aveva preparato per Haiku una prima implementazione di un'interfaccia per garantire la compatibilit\u00e0 con la libreria Xlib, permettendo di eseguire applicazioni X11 su Haiku senza l'uso di un server X.
