\u00c8 disponibile una versione Live del sistema operativo Salix 15.0, che offre un ambiente di avvio funzionante senza necessit\u00e0 di installazione su disco. Le modifiche accumulate durante la sessione corrente possono essere salvate in un'apposita area di un'unit\u00e0 USB per continuare il lavoro dopo il riavvio. Questo sistema \u00e8 sviluppato dall'autore di Zenwalk Linux, che ha lasciato il progetto a causa di conflitti con altri programmatori focalizzati su una politica di massima somiglianza con Slackware. Salix 15 \u00e8 completamente compatibile con Slackware Linux 15 e adotta un approccio di 'una applicazione per ogni compito'. Sono disponibili versioni a 64 e 32 bit (1,8 GB). <\/p>\n

Per gestire i pacchetti viene utilizzato il gestore pacchetti gslapt, equivalente a slapt-get. In aggiunta a gslapt, l'applicazione Sourcery \u00e8 fornita come interfaccia grafica per l'installazione dei programmi da SlackBuilds, anch'essa sviluppata appositamente per il progetto Salix come frontend per slapt-src. Gli strumenti standard per la gestione dei pacchetti Slackware sono stati modificati per supportare Spkg, consentendo l'uso di applicazioni esterne come sbopkg senza compromettere la compatibilit\u00e0 con Slackware.
