Microsoft ha annunciato il supporto per l'accelerazione hardware della codifica e decodifica video in WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), la sottospecie per eseguire applicazioni Linux in Windows. Questa implementazione consente l'uso dell'accelerazione hardware per il processamento, la codifica e la decodifica video in tutte le applicazioni compatibili con VAAPI.
