Il driver Xe \u00e8 posizionato come base per garantire il supporto di nuovi chip, non legato al codice per il supporto delle piattaforme pi\u00f9 vecchie. Nel corso del 2023, le patch dovranno essere rese pronte per i test da parte degli appassionati e, se possibile, sottoposte a recensione da parte di sviluppatori non legati a Intel. In uno scenario ottimista, il driver sar\u00e0 integrato nel kernel principale entro la fine dell'anno.     <\/p>\n<p>Attualmente, l'integrazione nel kernel principale \u00e8 ostacolata dal fatto che il codice \u00e8 stato inizialmente sviluppato a porte chiuse in un ramo separato del kernel e ora \u00e8 necessario effettuare ulteriore lavoro per integrarlo con la base di codice attuale. Considerando l'esperienza negativa recente legata al ritardo nell'integrazione di modifiche significative per il driver AMD, che ha portato alla riscrittura di parte del codice, si propone di raggiungere preliminarmente un consenso sulle questioni relative all'implementazione dello scheduler e all'interazione con altri driver, al fine di semplificare la promozione della base di codice preparata del driver Xe nel kernel principale.            <\/p>\n<p>Il driver Xe \u00e8 costruito utilizzando una nuova architettura, in cui vengono utilizzati in modo pi\u00f9 attivo i componenti esistenti del sottosistema DRM (Direct Rendering Manager), cos\u00ec come i componenti standard del driver i915, non legati a GPU specifiche, ad esempio, il codice per l'interazione con gli schermi, il modello di memoria e l'implementazione dell'execbuf. Nei driver Xe e i915 si prevede di garantire la condivisione del codice comune per evitare la duplicazione dei componenti standard.
