I membri del comitato tecnico che gestisce lo sviluppo di Ubuntu hanno approvato l'adozione della distribuzione Ubuntu Cinnamon, che offre un ambiente desktop Cinnamon, come una delle edizioni ufficiali di Ubuntu. Attualmente, \u00e8 iniziata l'integrazione con l'infrastruttura di Ubuntu, e la creazione delle prime build di prova di Ubuntu Cinnamon \u00e8 gi\u00e0 avviata, insieme ai lavori per organizzare i test nel sistema di controllo qualit\u00e0. Se non verranno riscontrati problemi significativi, Ubuntu Cinnamon entrer\u00e0 a far parte delle edizioni ufficialmente offerte a partire dal rilascio di Ubuntu 23.04. <\/p>\n

L'ambiente desktop Cinnamon \u00e8 sviluppato dalla comunit\u00e0 di sviluppatori della distribuzione Linux Mint e rappresenta un fork della shell GNOME, del file manager Nautilus e del window manager Mutter, mirato a fornire un ambiente nello stile classico di GNOME 2 con il supporto per elementi di interazione efficaci provenienti dalla shell GNOME. Cinnamon si basa su componenti GNOME, ma questi componenti vengono forniti come un fork periodicamente sincronizzato, privo di dipendenze esterne da GNOME. Nella fornitura base di Ubuntu Cinnamon sono inclusi applicativi esterni come LibreOffice, Thunderbird, Rhythmbox, GIMP, Celluloid, gThumb, GNOME Software e Timeshift.
