Zink fornisce un'implementazione di OpenGL sopra Vulkan, consentendo di ottenere OpenGL accelerato hardware su dispositivi che supportano solo l'API Vulkan. Le prestazioni di Zink sono simili a quelle delle implementazioni native di OpenGL, il che consente ai produttori di hardware di non spendere risorse per implementare OpenGL nelle proprie GPU e di limitarsi a supportare solo l'API Vulkan, realizzando OpenGL tramite uno strato intermedio. L'azienda Imagination Technologies \u00e8 stata la prima a utilizzare un tale schema.      <\/p>\n<p>La soluzione preparata ha superato con successo i test nella suite di conformit\u00e0 CTS (Khronos Conformance Test Suite) ed \u00e8 stata riconosciuta completamente compatibile con la specifica OpenGL 4.6. Questo \u00e8 il primo prodotto basato su Zink, ufficialmente certificato dall'organizzazione Khronos. Secondo i criteri di Khronos, nel caso di certificazione di un'altra implementazione basata su Zink, il driver Zink come strato universale sar\u00e0 ufficialmente riconosciuto compatibile con OpenGL 4.6. Ottenere il certificato consente di dichiarare ufficialmente la compatibilit\u00e0 con gli standard grafici e di utilizzare i marchi registrati associati a Khronos.     <\/p>\n<p>Tra gli altri lavori si segnala lo sviluppo da parte dell'azienda Imagination Technologies di un insieme di driver open source per le proprie GPU basate sull'architettura Rogue. L'insieme include un driver DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) per il kernel Linux, un driver con una prima implementazione di Vulkan 1.0 e un insieme di firmware per GPU. Il driver Vulkan \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stato trasferito alla versione principale di Mesa, mentre il driver DRM \u00e8 in fase di preparazione per essere incluso nel kernel Linux principale.
