Falcon si presenta come Ethernet di prossima generazione, capace di aumentare la capacit\u00e0 di trasmissione e migliorare l'efficienza della trasmissione dei dati nelle attuali reti standard basate su Ethernet e TCP\/IP, critiche per la capacit\u00e0 e le latenze, come le reti per sistemi di calcolo ad alte prestazioni e intelligenza artificiale.    <\/p>\n<p>Il protocollo si scalda per reti di data center ed \u00e8 progettato per fornire prestazioni elevate e prevedibili, basse latenze, flessibilit\u00e0 e scalabilit\u00e0. Il supporto per Falcon sar\u00e0 inizialmente fornito negli acceleratori di rete della serie Intel IPU E2000 (Infrastructure Processing Unit), che combinano un adattatore Ethernet con un processore programmabile, su cui \u00e8 possibile eseguire operazioni normalmente svolte a livello dello stack di rete o del sistema, come la gestione del traffico, il controllo del sovraccarico e l'analisi di protocolli di alto livello.     <\/p>\n<p>Per ottenere latenze basse in reti Ethernet ad alta velocit\u00e0, che ammettono perdite di pacchetti, Falcon utilizza tre principi: misurazione dettagliata delle latenze tra l'invio della richiesta e la ricezione della risposta (RTT, round-trip time), limitazione del traffico implementata a livello hardware legata a flussi singoli e rapida e precisa ritrasmissione dei pacchetti. Queste caratteristiche sono dotate di mezzi per l'accesso simultaneo su pi\u00f9 canali (Multipath) e supporto per la crittografia delle connessioni.      <\/p>\n<p>Nell'implementazione di Falcon sono coinvolte le seguenti tecnologie:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Carousel \u2014 meccanismo di limitazione del traffico (Traffic Shaping) che consente di regolare la larghezza di banda e l'intensit\u00e0 del flusso di pacchetti per singoli host.\n<li class=\"l\"> Snap \u2014 sottosistema di rete basato su microkernel, espandibile tramite moduli che consentono di aggiungere funzionalit\u00e0 avanzate, come la virtualizzazione di rete, la limitazione del traffico e la consegna di messaggi.\n<li class=\"l\"> Swift \u2014 meccanismo di controllo della congestione (Congestion Control) per reti di livello data center, che consente di ottenere latenze inferiori a 50 microsecondi per brevi messaggi RPC in condizioni di mantenimento di una larghezza di banda di 100Gbps. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/server\/\"   title=\"server\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">server<\/a> carichi vicini al 100%.\n<li class=\"l\"> RACK-TLP \u2014 algoritmo per la determinazione della perdita di pacchetti per TCP.\n<li class=\"l\"> PLB \u2014 meccanismo di bilanciamento del carico che utilizza segnali di sovraccarico. Dopo l'implementazione del PLB nelle reti Google, il disequilibrio del carico sugli switch \u00e8 diminuito del 60%, le perdite di pacchetti sono diminuite del 33% e le latenze nella consegna di brevi messaggi RPC sono diminuite del 25%.\n<li class=\"l\"> CSIG (Congestion Signaling) \u2014 protocollo di scambio di telemetria utilizzato per inviare segnali di sovraccarico e per la gestione del traffico.\n<li class=\"l\"> PSP (PSP Security Protocol) \u2014 protocollo di crittografia del traffico.  <\/ul>\n<p>Falcon utilizza come protocolli di livello superiore RDMA e NVM Express, ma consente anche di aggiungere supporto per ulteriori protocolli di livello superiore sotto forma di estensioni. La funzionalit\u00e0 di Falcon \u00e8 definita da tre livelli: livello per il mapping ai protocolli di livello superiore (ULP Mapping), livello delle transazioni e livello di consegna dei pacchetti. Al primo livello viene gestito il flusso, l'elaborazione dei messaggi e il mapping ai livelli superiori. Al secondo livello vengono effettuati la pianificazione, la gestione delle risorse e l'ordinamento.
