In Russia, the development of a training platform for system programmers is underway \u2014 BMPOC (Base Modular Platform for Operating Systems), which is conceived and created as an educational tool for operating system development with an advanced theoretical and practical foundation. Within the project, a modular kernel is being developed, fundamentally different from existing kernels and designed specifically for studying the operating systems development process. The OS code is written in C and distributed under the MIT-like GOL (State Open License). <\/p>\n

The development aims to provide students with knowledge based on the minimally required codebase, to cultivate skills in building simple and understandable architecture, and to maximize code simplification. The OS has a small size of binary files, which contributes to its high reliability and simplifies the processes of building and testing. <\/p>\n

The project does not aim to use outside di macchine virtuali<\/a>. Only modular assembly is supported, with modules embedded at the compilation stage. A full release of the platform with a complete set of drivers, including guest extensions for Qemu and Virtualbox, is planned for February next year. <\/p>\n

In the first test release of the kernel, a memory manager, video memory manager, and module loader are available. Support for TGA screens has been implemented. Instructions for building and launching have been added. Work is ongoing on the task manager and I\/O thread system. The immediate plans include creating drivers for the keyboard, SATA (ACHI), and EXT2 filesystem.
