L'azienda russa RED SOFT, famosa per lo sviluppo della distribuzione simile a RHEL RED OS e del DBMS Red Database (edizione del DBMS open source Firebird), ha registrato nel registro software russo il sistema operativo RED OS M (RED OS M), progettato per l'uso su dispositivi mobili e sistemi fissi con schermi tattili. RED OS M \u00e8 costruito a partire dai sorgenti della piattaforma Android, disponibili nel repository AOSP (Android Open Source Project) e privi di collegamenti ai servizi e ai prodotti Google. <\/p>\n

La piattaforma proposta si distingue per il supporto della modalit\u00e0 ibrida, che consente di ottenere un desktop completo utilizzando un tablet con schermo tattile o collegando un monitor, una tastiera e un mouse a uno smartphone. In modalit\u00e0 desktop, \u00e8 possibile avviare non solo le applicazioni mobili sviluppate per la piattaforma Android, ma anche programmi grafici completi come Firefox, Chromium, LibreOffice, Thunderbird e Krita. L'esecuzione delle applicazioni Linux da desktop avviene tramite un ambiente incorporato con la distribuzione RED OS (un fork di RHEL 7). \u00c8 supportata l'installazione di pacchetti RPM. L'interfaccia grafica della modalit\u00e0 desktop si basa sull'ambiente desktop Mate, che continua lo sviluppo della base di codice GNOME 2.32. <\/p>\n

Nell'ambiente mobile viene utilizzata una propria edizione dell'interfaccia utente (Android Launcher), e per l'installazione delle applicazioni Android in formato APK viene proposto per impostazione predefinita un catalogo di app RuStore, sebbene venga menzionata anche la possibilit\u00e0 di installare componenti GMS (Google Mobile Services) e HMS (HUAWEI Mobile Services) per accedere ai cataloghi di Google Play e HUAWEI AppGallery. \u00c8 supportata l'installazione di aggiornamenti OTA del sistema. Tra le app ci sono un programma per la fotocamera, una galleria fotografica, un lettore video, un client di posta, un registratore vocale, un calendario, una rubrica, un file manager, programmi per la gestione dei documenti, browser Chromium e Yandex Browser, e applicazioni per l'accesso ai servizi russi.
