Ocrad pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato sia come libreria per integrare funzioni OCR in altre applicazioni, sia come un'utilit\u00e0 autonoma che, sulla base di un'immagine fornita in input, restituisce testo in UTF-8 o in codifiche a 8 bit.     <\/p>\n<p>Per il riconoscimento ottico in Ocrad viene utilizzato il metodo di estrazione delle caratteristiche (feature extraction). Include un analizzatore del layout della pagina, che consente di separare correttamente colonne e blocchi di testo nei documenti stampati.
