Dopo 12 anni dalla precedente versione di prova e 16 anni dalla stabilizzazione dell'ultimo rilascio, \u00e8 stata pubblicata la versione del sistema operativo Damn Small Linux 2024, progettata per l'uso su sistemi a bassa potenza e hardware obsoleto. Il nuovo rilascio ha la qualit\u00e0 di una versione alpha ed \u00e8 preparato per architetture i386. La dimensione dell'immagine di avvio \u00e8 di 665 MB (per confronto, la precedente versione aveva una dimensione di 50 MB). <\/p>\n

La build \u00e8 stata creata sulla base del Live-distribuitore AntiX 23, a sua volta costruito su una base di pacchetti Debian. L'obiettivo del rilancio di Damn Small Linux \u00e8 stato quello di ottenere un Live-distribuitore compatto per sistemi obsoleti, che possa stare su un CD (meno di 700 MB) e offra ambienti grafici e testuali utilizzabili. Sono disponibili ambienti basati sui gestori di finestre Fluxbox e JWM. Sono inclusi tre browser web: BadWolf, Dillo e Links2. <\/p>\n

Tra le applicazioni da console: il gestore di file Ranger, il foglio di calcolo VisiData, il multiplexore di terminale Tmux, il client di posta Mutt, il lettore musicale Cmus, il programma per la scrittura di CD\/DVD \u2014 CDW, il sistema di ricerca SurfRaw, gli editor di testo Vim e Nano, i browser W3M e Links2.
