Gli sviluppatori di Kubuntu Linux hanno annunciato di essere al lavoro per la traduzione della distribuzione sull'uso dell'installer Calamares, indipendente da distribuzioni Linux specifiche e che utilizza la libreria Qt per la creazione dell'interfaccia utente. L'implementazione di Calamares permetter\u00e0 di sfruttare uno stack grafico unificato in un ambiente basato su KDE. Delle edizioni ufficiali di Ubuntu, Lubuntu e UbuntuDDE hanno gi\u00e0 adottato l'installer Calamares. Oltre alla sostituzione dell'installer, tra i lavori condotti dal progetto \u00e8 stata anche segnalata la preparazione del rilascio primaverile di Kubuntu 24.04 LTS, che sar\u00e0 l'ultimo rilascio basato su KDE 5, e l'inizio dello sviluppo di una versione beta con KDE 6, che servir\u00e0 come base per il rilascio autunnale di Kubuntu 24.10.
