Kent Overstreet, sviluppatore del file system Bcachefs, ha proposto patch che consentono al kernel Linux di lavorare con il file system Bcachefs anche dopo il danneggiamento di una parte significativa dei metadati, ricostruendo se necessario gli alberi b danneggiati dai metadati presenti nelle strutture inode e dirent. Le modifiche sono state approvate da Linus Torvalds e incluse nell'aggiornamento di test attuale del kernel 6.9-rc3. <\/p>\n

Le modifiche garantiscono il montaggio dei file system danneggiati e forniscono accesso a tutti o quasi tutti i dati nel file system colpito da un recente errore che portava alla corruzione del file system. L'errore si manifestava quando, dopo un aggiornamento degli strumenti, veniva intrapresa, ma non completata, un'operazione di aggiornamento delle strutture del file system, dopo di che il kernel, con una vecchia implementazione di Bcachefs, tentava di eseguire il downgrade della versione delle strutture, ignorando l'aggiornamento incompleto.
