Gli sviluppatori del progetto Raspberry Pi hanno presentato il servizio Raspberry Pi Connect, progettato per la connessione remota al desktop della distribuzione Raspberry Pi OS tramite un browser web. Il servizio pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato negli ambienti Raspberry Pi OS per schede Raspberry Pi 4, Raspberry Pi 400 e Raspberry Pi 5, basati su Debian 12 e convertiti in un stack grafico basato su Wayland.

Per utilizzare il servizio, \u00e8 sufficiente installare il pacchetto «rpi-connect», dopodich\u00e9 apparir\u00e0 un nuovo indicatore nella barra di sistema, tramite il quale \u00e8 possibile attivare il servizio. Dopo la registrazione, \u00e8 possibile connettersi al dispositivo tramite il browser alla pagina connect.raspberrypi.com, che viene utilizzata solo per coordinare le connessioni, mentre la comunicazione avviene direttamente tra il browser e il sistema operativo tramite il protocollo WebRTC. In caso di impossibilit\u00e0 a stabilire una connessione diretta, \u00e8 supportato opzionalmente il tunneling crittografato tramite servers<\/a> l'organizzazione Raspberry Pi Foundation (per gli utenti normali, il servizio promette di rimanere gratuito). Sul lato del dispositivo, per gestire le connessioni viene avviato un processo in background chiamato rpi-connect, che avvia un server VNC al quale ci si connette tramite un client VNC progettato per funzionare nel browser.
